Embracing being ordinary
What’s wrong with being ordinary? It’s defined as not being exceptional in any way especially in quality or ability or size or degree. Yet it can also be defined as the period before extraordinary where everyone has the ability to become beyond what is ordinary or usual; highly unusual or exceptional or remarkable.
Thus ordinary becomes the time where the seed is sown. Where ideas get the chance to find the space to develop. It’s the breathing space as well as the launch pad to Positive Living (http://www NULL.7stepstopostiveliving NULL.com).
In reality ordinary is just a word. The problems begin when we give it more importance than it merits. Everything starts with a thought. Thought brings everything in your life into being. Here’s what happens. Someone or something brings the thought of being ordinary to your attention.
At that point it means nothing. Then the circumstances of the moment enable you to identify some sort of recognition. Your brain starts the process of pattern matching similar circumstances, bunching them together until you have some sort of definition of what the word means to you. Going forward that same process of pattern matching automatically gathers more information as it shows up.
Does this mean it is true? Not really it just means it’s true to you. Everyone has their own definitions as shaped by life. The pattern matching process is similar to a computer process that doesn’t recognise right or wrong, where minor stuff is lumped in with major stuff. All jumbled together.
Here’s the thing. You may be thinking about the life you are living at this moment. You may have decided it is very ordinary. You may even think that’s about right for the likes of you – born to be ordinary in every sense.
Is it true? No of course not. You may be living an ordinary life as defined by your thought process but to someone else you may be living a life they are dreaming about. If you’re dodging bullets ordinary sounds like heaven.
Ordinary is a very good place to be. It can show you that you are ready for more. To move past ordinary you are going to have to learn to control your thought process. Remember nothing exists until you being into being. A good place to start is to learn the Three Principles (http://www NULL.threeprinciplesfoundation NULL.org/) of mind, consciousness and thought.
The mind is the vehicle for consciousness. Consciousness is the awareness of what is around you. Thought is the tool that brings your own meaning to consciousness. It is what humans put into their thoughts that dictate what they think of life.
Change your thoughts and everything changes. What if you decided that ordinary just meant you were listening, watching and learning until it was time for you to become extraordinary.
What if you defined extraordinary as living a life where your heart sang with the sheer joy and happiness of being you. That’s worth embracing being ordinary isn’t it?
